One Act Play Festival

Congratulations to Miss Emily Holmes and Mr Dean Ahearn for coordinating this year’s One Act Play Festival held on Thursday 1st September. Excited parents and friends enjoyed 9 group devised performances presented by students from years 7 – 12. It was wonderful to have another performance event back on the calendar, you could feel the energy and buzz in the Black Box from all of the students involved both on stage and back stage.

Special thanks to Mrs Jacinta Jackson for mentoring and supporting Miss Holmes in her inaugural role as MiC for this co-curriculum and her assistance with rehearsals and to Ms Joanne Christie and the backstage students for their valuable organisation backstage to help the plays rung smoothly.

It was a pleasure to see so many diverse plays developed by the students around this year’s theme, ‘The Swinging Sixties’. It appears Jones and Aherne Houses were very well represented in the awards!

The Best Overall Play was Golden Finger – a witty James Bond satire created by three clever writers/directors and performers.

A hearty Bravo and Brava to all of the students who invested in the creativity and problem solving of devising and presenting their own scripts across 7 weeks in Term 3.
