Ministry and Care

Pastor Peter Janetzki

The following message was written by Jasmina F and was inspired by the poem “Footprints In The Sand.”  Jasmina’s message focuses especially on the lines "Lord, you promised you would walk with me always.  But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints."

The Lord whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you.  When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Sometimes in life things go smoothly and well. Maybe you have won a sporting contest or have learnt a new skill.  When good things happen, it is God that is helping us to do our best and to achieve. We can feel God’s love and warmth and we feel joy in our hearts.

But sometimes in life things might not go our way.  There are times when we feel alone, stressed, sad and anxious, and we feel as though God is not hearing us and that God is silent – just like in the poem, when the person saw only one set of footprints in the sand and so asked God why that was. God replied and said, “It was during those times that I carried you.”

This is the most important part of the poem.  It gives us hope and faith.  You see, when we are going through the hardest and most difficult times of life, God hears us and helps us in ways that we often can’t see. God is always present in our lives and will carry us through everything in life.  We need to trust God even when we can't feel God’s presence. God is always listening.  God is always in our hearts.

God is always with us – even during the toughest times.
