Deputy Principal - Academic

Mr Richard Baird

After such a successful Mother’s Day earlier in the year the College decided to celebrate Father’s Day in a similar fashion inviting all dads and grandfathers to attend a morning tea in the Chapel and enjoy a guided full College tour.

It was fantastic to see more than 150 fathers and grandfathers attend and stay for the full College tour. For most fathers, it was the first time that they had seen the wonderful facilities that we have at GNLC.

Parents toured the Junior Years, Middle Years, and Senior years building, much to the delight of their sons and daughters. The tour included seeing your children in action in all core classes and specialist areas such as:

  • Physical education
  • Food technology
  • Woodwork
  • Engineering/Digital Technology
  • Textiles
  • Robotics and programming
  • Creative and visual Art
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Media
  • Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories

The message for this morning was about recognising how important the fathers are to the education of their child (as of course are mums, grandparents, and special friends). The best thing a father can do is take an interest in their child’s education and be present.

I would like to thank the fathers and grandfathers for supporting this event and wish everyone a happy Father’s Day this Sunday.

If you were unable to attend this morning and would like a full school tour, then please feel to contact the College and I would be more than happy to assist.
