Mineral Resources Visit

Year 12 Trades students were fortunate this week to be visited by Mineral Resources representatives to discuss their 2023 Apprenticeship Program.

Mineral Resources is a leading mining services company with a growing world-class portfolio of mining operations across multiple commodities, including iron ore and lithium.

They have a large footprint providing mining services to clients throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory, operating mine sites in the Pilbara and Goldfields regions and shipping product through ports in Port Hedland and Esperance.

The Year 12’s were given a clearer insight into the MinRes Apprenticeship program which is designed to be an opportunity to build experience in the mining industry through structured workshop and site based training. Over four years, participants earn a nationally recognised trade with dedicated leadership and guidance to help grow their skills and experience with an agile mining company.

Mineral resources accepts applications for the following roles:

  • Boilermaker.
  • Electrician/ Instrument Technician (Electro Technology).
  • Auto Electrician.
  • Mechanical Fitter (Fixed Plant).
  • Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter (Mobile Plant Mechanic).

A special thank you to Mineral Resources, Emily Pettitt – Learning and Development Superintendent, Troy McDonald – CSI Workshop Manager (Fixed Plant), Adam Mileham AMG Workshop Manager (Mobile Maintenance) and Jeff Williams – Apprentice Master, for your time spent with the students on Thursday.

Judging by the questions at the end of your presentation and interaction with the students during the tour through the workshops, students were highly engaged and gained a valuable insight into the opportunities out there in the mining sector.
