STAFF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY
No School for students on Monday 31 October
Teachers have been granted a Professional Practice Day each term. On this day they can structure their own professional learning such as preparing resources, visiting other schools, investigating new approaches, etc. In Term 4 we are having a professional practice day for the whole staff so we can all work together in the morning and with teams in the afternoon.
Milgate PS will have the Professional Practice Day on Monday 31 October. On this day there will be no school for students.
If you require care for your children on that day, please contact Team Kids https://teamkids.com.au/venues/milgate-primary-oshc/
YEAR 3 | MINIBOSS ‘THE LAB’ INCURSION
This week the Year 3 students were lucky enough to participate in a ‘MiniBoss - The Lab’ incursion. During this fun science-based incursion students observed some exciting experiments such as ‘elephant’s toothpaste’ and ‘magic milk’. They also made bath bombs, working together as a team to select colour, scent and to create the bath bombs. Students reflected on their learning through the day and showed great courage as they presented this to the group. Thanks to Em and friends for such a fun experience!
YEAR 1 | SLEEPOVER
All year 1 students are looking forward to the Year 1 sleepover in the stadium on Friday night. The night will begin with a variety of rotational games, followed by a movie. The students will then sleep over for the night and have breakfast at school together on Saturday morning before going home. Thank you to the Year 1 teachers who have organised, planned and will be sleeping over for the night. Thank you also to the parents who are assisting with games, overnight stay and breakfast in the morning. The students will have a fantastic time together with their friends.
HANDBALL AND HOTDOGS
The Fathering Project - Milgate Dads and Kids Event
We are excited to hold our first ‘The Fathering Project - Milgate Dads and Kids Group’ activity for the year. We will be holding a Handball and Hotdogs event at the school next Thursday 15th September. This will be a great opportunity to bring fathers and father-figures together with the aim to inspire and equip fathers and father-figures to positively engage with the children in their lives – for the benefit of kids. The Fathering Project delivers resources, programs and events specific to the engagement style and needs of dads and father-figures. This will be a casual event where students and their dads/father figures can play against each other whilst chatting and getting to know other dads from the school. Students are welcome to bring their own four-square ball to play with, and some of the older students will be on hand to assist with the rules on the day. It should be a great evening and we look forward to seeing you there!
