Y7 Our World
During Term 3, Year 7 Our World students have been exploring the rich histories of Ancient Civilisations. After being introduced to the civilisations of Egypt, Greece, Rome, India and China, students explored one of these civilisations in detail for their PBL. Throughout their PBL, students explored the concepts of daily life, religion and important sites and showcased their understanding through the creation of a travel guide.
Below Harper A shares her insights of the unit so far.
In Our World we have been exploring the ancient civilisations and their societies. We had to create a brochure that explained key information about ancient Greece. We made this brochure so that a certain group of people could time travel and know the basics of the ancient place. I investigated Greece. I learnt about their religion, which taught me about the polytheistic religion which I had not learnt about yet. I grasped a bit of knowledge about their daily life and the hierarchy that was placed. It was hard to imagine that people must travel to trade their food and they had to grow their own food. This PBL opened my eyes and gave me and insight to how people lived back then and how grateful we should be that we have food and water in hands reach.
