Y7 BEST – The Wetland Then & Now

Our Year 7 students have been out in our wetland (behind the multipurpose pitch) as part of the Ecosystems Unit in BEST. Their current PBL has a focus on the food webs and health of the Ecosystems in our wetland and in the adjacent Long Hollow Heathland. To engage in this PBL, students spend time actively caring for our wetland by cleaning, weeding and monitoring the health of the ecosystem. 

The photos below show our 2022 Year 7s participating in the hands-on sessions in the wetland. This offers a great comparison to the photos from 2018 where the students were involved in the initial planting, and we can see the amount of growth in our native plants that has occurred in the last 4 years and our wetland ecosystem starting to take shape.
