Principal's Report
“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” Abraham Lincoln
We held our first High Achievers Breakfast last week. Students who achieved in the top 10% for Semester 1 were invited, along with their parents. Their achievements will lead the way for others as our school continues to grow. We look forward to many more events and celebrations that highlight the fantastic learning and growth of our students.

The Year 11 students celebrated another milestone with their Formal. It was a joyous event that brought the year level together for a night of dancing and fun. The photo booth was a fun addition that will serve as reminder of their night. The student group who put the night together, led by Holly B, did a fantastic job. It was a great success and the students are now looking ahead to the Year 12 Formal.
Year 7 students had a busy Wellbeing Day filled with activities such as Tai Chi and informative talks on the dangers of vaping. They were provided with a range of tools to help regulate their emotions. We know these skills are preparation for not only adolescence but also into adulthood.
We had a number of engaging events last week for Science Week. It is important to showcase sciences in the world beyond the classroom. Please check out the report in this newsletter for more details.
Many students participated as part of the Microcredential Program in a number of hospitality courses. Students learned about:
- RSA
- Food Handling
- Barista Training
While it is not an answer to the worker shortage in hospitality, it will provide students with skills to apply for jobs in hospitality.
It was interesting returning to school to hear the cries of babies in the building. I soon realised they were not real babies but the simulator babies that our VCE Health and Human Development students were caring for as part of their unit outcomes. The simulator babies provide students with an insight into the challenges and demands of parenthood. A number of students had a few sleepless nights with crying babies and it appears that parents stepped in to help.
The Intermediate Round Robin once again allowed our talented sports students the opportunity to compete. Over 100 Year 9 and 10 students represented the college across a range of sports. Check out the report in this newsletter for more details.
It is wonderful to be back after spending quality time with family overseas for the first time since the pandemic. Thank you to the team here for keeping the college running so smoothly during my leave. A special thank you to Steve Bourbon who stepped into the Acting Principal role and Stefan Andonovski as Acting Assistant Principal.
Looking ahead:
- Today is Kingston Divisional Athletics with 74 students representing the college. Go Beaumaris!
- Year 9 Morrisby interview for careers planning continues this week. Students begin to plan pathways into their senior years.
- We are having a Professional Practice Day on Monday 5 September. Students are not required at school and there are no scheduled classes.
- Great Outdoors Cathedral Ranges Hike this week - glorious setting for a rigorous hike.
- Next week, our second Ski Camp will be heading out for another great few days on the snow.
The updated and revised Child Safety Code of Conduct is now available on the school website. The School Council and Student Leaders have reviewed the updates and endorsed the policy. Please take a few minutes to read through the policy.
