F-6 Athletics

It was doom and gloom as the rain prevented the F-6 Athletics Carnival from going ahead on its original date. Luckily Mr Hill and Miss Johns were very quick to respond to this hurdle and preparation began for a new date so the F-6 students didn't miss out.

After putting in a lot of hard work in classes to learn all the events, the students were very keen to show off their new skillset. An early start for the PE team ensured that everything was organised to make the day run as smoothly as possible. Due to the smaller venue, there were a few changes made to the schedule with a new event being introduced, this was known as crazy relay. I do like to say it was the best event on the day, but I may be biassed as I was running it!

There were plenty of great times throughout the day and it was great to see that the kids were still able to have an athletics day after many worried they would miss out all together. It was time to see what the Year 6 students could bring to the table against the staff members. A controversial call was made, with the Year 9 helpers being able to enter a team for the relay race. It was time for the men to show the boys how it's done! It was a tight race up until the final runners, where the staff team quickly fell apart. I struggled to kick into gear and our lead quickly disappeared to the student helpers. The conditions were perfect for the whole day, but I made it look like I was trying to run in quicksand.

It was great to see so many parents coming to watch and so many smiles on the student's faces. The overall winner will be announced at the next school assembly so stay tuned.

Thank you to all the student helpers who helped to run the activities for the day and a massive thank you to Mr Hill and Miss Johns for organising this great day on such short notice. The day wouldn’t be possible without their work behind the scenes!

7-12 Campaspe Division Athletics

We had many students travel to Shepparton on Tuesday to compete in the 7-12 Campaspe Athletics. This was a result of their fantastic results at our school athletics carnival. It was obvious from the get-go that we had many students that were going to own the athletics track and that is exactly what happened. Congratulations to all students who will be competing at the next level.

First placings

Jordan O’Neill - triple jump

Riley Morris - high jump and long jump

Cyrhil Cunanan - 800m and 1500m

James Hargreaves - 800m

Grace Kilpatrick - 100m and 200m

Riley Wakenshaw - Discus

Open Mens relay team - Riley Wakenshaw, Riley Morris, Jordan O’Neill and Cooper O’Neill

Within our team we had two students that took out their age champions. Well done to Grace Kilpatrick for winning the 14 years age champion as well as the overall junior girls section winner. Well done also, to Brody Thompson, who took out the 12/13 years age champion. With both these students taking out these achievements and many other Years 7 and 8s performing well throughout the day, St Aug's were announced the winner of the overall junior section average points. This is a great achievement by all Years 7 and 8 students. It was great to see so many students advance to this level and give tremendous efforts in all of their events!
