From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I would like to acknowledge the amazing few weeks that we have had at St Augustine’s.

Industry Day

On Tuesday 30th August, St Augustine’s hosted the Kyabram Industry Day for all Year 9 students from St Augustine’s and Kyabram P-12 College. Over 20 presenters were available to speak to our students regarding future career pathways. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to start exploring potential study options upon completion of Year 12.

Arts on Show

Also on Tuesday 30th August, St Augustine’s hosted the Sandhurst Arts on Show at the Kyabram Sports Stadium. Schools involved in the Arts on Show included St Pat’s (Tongala), St Mary’s (Rushworth), Sacred Heart (Tatura), St Francis (Nathalia) and of course, St Augustine’s. Absolutely outstanding performances from all schools, but St Augustine’s were sensational!!

A gallery of photos from the day is included in the College News section of today's newsletter.

Beaut Blokes Breakfast

Wow!!!  Over 300 dads attended our Beaut Bloke’s Breakfast. What a wonderful way to start the day. I am so delighted that we can re-engage our families, and this will be a significant focus for the College for the remainder of the year and in particular, 2023. A significant thank you to our volunteers who kindly prepared 27 loaves of bread and cooked 28 dozen eggs and 16kg bacon.

F – 6 Athletics Carnival

The Foundation to Year 6 Athletics Carnival took place at the Northern Oval last week. As you know, this was postponed a few weeks ago. Lots of very excited students (and parents) were in attendance and I was so pleased that we were able to reschedule so quickly.

Father’s Day Stall

The Father’s Day Stall took place where Foundation to Year 6 students can purchase a gift for their dads, granddads or significant other in their lives. I have no doubt that all the dads and granddads loved their presents. Again, a big thank you to our volunteers on the day.

R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is Australia’s National Day of Action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life. Anthony Poppa (our Wellbeing Leader Years 5 - 8) led a number of initiates throughout the College.

#NotEvenOnce

Our Years 7 to 12 students participated in a #NotEvenOnce presentation. The comprehensive seminars provided students and teachers with current scientific, medical and statistical information on the issues surrounding drug and alcohol use, particularly on the impact of AOD (alcohol and drug) use on the developing brain.
