BOOK FAIR

Dear Parents and Families,

Our school is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair during week 9 (12-16 September). The book Fair will be open for children and families to purchase books during the following times:

Before School - 8.00-8:30am daily

Break 1 - 10:30-11.00am daily

Break 2 - 1:10pm-1:30pm daily

After School - 2:50-3:20pm daily

We will also open on the night of the school concert from 5.00pm till 5:45pm (approx.).

You and your child will have the opportunity to explore a huge range of affordable books featuring characters and subject’s kids love and want to read about. From newly released books and bestsellers to award-winning titles and perennial favourites. This is also a great way for you to learn about and discuss your child's interests and every book sold benefits our school, adding resources to our library and classrooms. Scholastic Book Fairs help us show students the wonder of reading. After all, when kids choose their own books, they will be more excited to read, and they will naturally read more!

Your children will be browsing the selection of books next week and writing out their wish list for you to see.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out at the book fair before and after school especially. If you can volunteer please contact mel.bevan@ntschool.net or phone Reception.

SENIOR SCHOOL CONCERT

Our Senior Concert will be held on Thursday 15 September for Years 4, 5 and 6. Students performing in the concert should arrive at 5.30pm. The concert will commence at 6.00pm and will be held in the Amphitheatre. Families are encouraged to park in the Albrecht Oval car park and enter the school through the bike shed gate.

3 tickets per family were sent home earlier this week. Please return any tickets you will not need to Reception so they can be reallocated. If you require extra tickets please email living.waters@ntschools.net or phone Reception to be placed on our waitlist.

SRC BAKE SALE

Our SRC students are having a Bake sale on Monday 19 September. If you can, we are asking families to bake something sweet and nut-free, such as cupcakes, muffins, cookies, or brownies. These can be dropped off at the hall canteen and will be sold during our first break. To purchase something delicious, students are encouraged to bring a couple of gold coins. As part of our Lutheran service to communities, all our profits will go to St Anthony’s International School in Dili, Timor Leste. This is a fabulous school that will be able to buy much needed resources for their library.

STUDENT LED CONFERENCES

Student led conferences will be taking place in Week 10 on Monday 19 September and Wednesday 21 September from 3:15pm each day. This is a great opportunity for parents and carers to see what their child has been working on at school. To book a time visit the link below.

CASUAL DRESS DAY

On Tuesday 20 September students can bring a gold coin donation and come to school dressed in casual clothes. Donations will be going to  St Anthony’s International School in Dili, Timor Leste.

LOST PROPERTY

We have many items of lost property at Reception, including jumpers, hats  and water bottles. If you think something could be yours please come and have a browse. Parents and carers are reminded to please label their child’s clothing so items can be returned to them.

WOMEN'S HEALTH WEEK

This week is Women's Health Week 2022. For some great resources relating to women's health visit https://www.jeanhailes.org.au/.

WEET-BIX ACTIVE BANDS

It’s always great to see students running around and keeping active during breaks. Remember to earn Active Points and unlock extra features by scanning the bands every day for active play at home and community sport activities. Did you know that research shows only 19% of Aussie kids (5 – 17 years old) are getting the recommended 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise each day? The Weet-Bix Active Bands program is a great way to help our kids move more, and more often! If your child needs a replacement active band, please contact Reception or your child’s teacher. A free replacement active band will be sent home ready to activate. For more information check out https://weetbixactivebands.com.au/.

CANTEEN

The Canteen is now operating every day for Break 1 and 2. Please note due to staffing the Canteen will be closed Tuesday 13 September-Thursday 15 September (Week 9).

To order download the School24 app and use School ID: 25137963. Please make sure to update your child's class in their profile before ordering. Orders will need to be placed by 8.00am on the day.

If your child is absent and an order has been made, please notify Reception by 9.00am. Orders can then be held over until the next day or credited to your account.

Mrs Lightfoot is looking for volunteers to help her make sure her new menu can continue. Without any assistance she may have to reduce the items on the menu again. All offers of volunteering will be acknowledged by Mrs Lightfoot. Feel free to contact her on lwls.canteen@ntschools.net . You can also sign up here: https://volunteersignup.org/QE84K.

Our new menu, including daily specials, is attached below.
