Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the halfway mark of the term. Where has the year gone? It is certainly moving very quickly. The students have certainly been busy in the classroom, learning new concepts, consolidating past concepts and showing a true enthusiasm and love for learning. It gives us great pleasure to visit classrooms and see students happy, smiling and engaged in their learning. We thoroughly enjoy asking students about their learning and hearing their responses.

Armidale Diocesan Principal's Conference

Last week we had the opportunity to join with the Principals from across the Armidale Diocese to take part in our Term 3 conference in Moree. Prior to the commencement of the conference we were fortunate to tour St Francis Xavier's Primary School in Narrabri and witness the teaching and learning taking place. It was wonderful to see the literacy block in action which highlights the systemness we share across the Armidale Diocese in regards to our teaching and learning.

The next session was on collaborative co-teaching facilitated by Mrs Yates and Mrs Wait from St Joseph's Tenterfield. We are very fortunate to have wonderful facilities and enthusiastic teams of teachers and Educational Assistants who consistently co-plan, co-teach and co-assess as part of their daily practice to support our students in achieving their best possible outcomes.

A highlight of the conference was the official launch of the Armidale Diocesan Data Ecosystem live across Australia.  The Data Ecosystem, which has been developed over the past three years, is an impressive tool that will change the way teachers and school leadership teams look at a whole range of school and student performance data. The data is then analysed to inform next steps in learning, teaching and improvement agendas. (See video below.)

The Principal's Conference concluded with work around our Annual Improvement Plan for 2023 and classroom visits to classrooms at St Philomena's Moree.

May God bless you and your family,

Maree Holland & Greg O'Toole
