Year Adviser Updates

Years 7 - 9

Year 7

Ms Hall and Mr Sanchez want to take this opportunity to commend Year 7 students for their growth this term.  They are showing organisation and resilience, looking settled and taking up the opportunities presented to them.

Remember, a successful student is organised so please spend some time before Term 4 making sure you have the following equipment:

  • Black/blue and red pens
  • Lead pencil
  • Eraser
  • Sharpener
  • Ruler
  • Calculators (can be purchased from the school)
  • Glue stick
  • Exercise books

Consult your assessment calendar to see when your assessments are scheduled, start working on them in advance and visit B4 to get help every recess.

Most importantly enjoy your break, use this time to refresh and chill.  Your Year Advisers look forward to seeing you back in Term 4.

Congratulations to Joshua Morenito placing 1st, Arthin Qas Mousa for placing 2nd, and Lautofa Lepupa for placing 3rd.

Next term we will have a Spelling Bee competition held on the 16th of November periods 3 & 4 in the school hall. Hope everyone is looking forward to that!

Year 9

Dear Parents and Guardians of Year 9 students,

Here we are again at the end of another school term!

During Term 3, Year 9 have shone through in the academic, creative arts and sporting arena. It is always great to see students getting involved in extra-curricular activities, but it is their enthusiasm and dedication to the task at hand which is incredibly inspiring. Many of our Year 9 students ‘jumped’ at the opportunities offered to them. As always, we continue to encourage Year 9 to take up opportunities offered to them and be open to new experiences.

Year 9 students participated in a Mathematics in Trade Workshop, focusing on the refrigeration and air conditioning trades. The workshop involved an array of practical activities, including applying school mathematics skills to real world scenarios. This workshop was presented by industry experts who took students through exercises such as measuring air conditioning unit size requirements for houses, calculating co-efficient of performance, and completing heat load calculations. Thank you to Mr. Irani and the Maths Faculty for organising this opportunity.

Year 9 Visual Arts students attended the Art Gallery of New South Wales. They spent the day viewing and engaging in the many collections of the gallery. The Educators and Coordinators were so pleased with the Year 9 students that they were invited by the Art Gallery to contribute to the commissioned artwork by Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, who are creating one of their impressively scaled cardboard sculptures. Thank you to Mr. McClaughlin for organising the excursion. Well done to the students for being such wonderful role models for our school.

Year 9 students were also involved in a ‘Street Law Clinic’ organised by our school support officer Ms. Moon. Current law students from The Western Sydney University presented valuable information to our students regarding the importance of cyber safety and consent. The presenters were so impressed by the engagement of our students. Well Done!!

As always, Ms. Maror and I are always pleased to meet the cohort in our fortnightly meetings. It gives us great happiness when we see the number of students upholding our school values and being reward with merits. Merits are collected and students go into a draw to win a canteen voucher. Keep those merits coming in Year 9. This term we have also added an additional draw based on attendance. Students automatically go into the draw if they have 90% and above attendance.

We hope that you all have a wonderful and relaxing break.

We look forward to seeing you in Term 4
