Education Week

Can you outsmart the teacher?

Education Week, which took place in Week 3, was a great opportunity to ponder the question: Can the students outsmart their teacher?

I invited 5 classes to the Library for a series of high drama trivia and minute-to-win-it challenges to find my answer. The end result was this: we all had fun, we learned some interesting facts, such as:

  • Cheese is the most shoplifted food item in the world,
  • Humans share 60% of their DNA with bananas (yep, that's true!),
  • Scientists can turn peanut butter into diamonds!

Our skills were definitely tested, for example, did you know that chocolate originated in Latin America? I thought it was Switzerland! And potatoes have the power to improve wi-fi signals (Ms Welfare didn't know that, either!).

If I remember correctly, the inventor of the Pringles can is now buried in one!

In any case, Education Week was a fun, educational one in which we learned that our world is an amazing and fascinating one full of wonderful facts.

Our students faced their teachers in a series of trivia questions, in a range of categories, and some students actually won!

A huge thanks to Mr Zhang, Miss Diep, Mr Swindells, Mr Foster and Ms Welfare and their wonderful classes for joining us in the Library. We had a great time! We learned so much and are now equipped with loads of facts and are ready for the next trivia challenge!

Thanks also to Miss Fiona, our amazing Library assistant for her super organisation of the prizes and scoring.

In the end, some students DID outsmart their teacher, but it was too close to call...

Check out our photos, taken by our amazing Mr Tonny Luu.
