Dance News
Term 3 saw our wonderful Shining Stars (Eric, Jonathan, Yousif, Karma and Kelli) and their ensemble (students from four other local schools), perform at the State Dance Festival and the Australian Association of Special Education (ASSE) conference.
The State Dance Festival is a prestigious event held at the Seymour Centre which showcases choreographed dance work from public schools across NSW. Our ensemble performed on Friday 9th September in front of a crowed who thoroughly enjoyed their performance. A highlight was watching our students who had been on the stage before, assist other younger students in the ensemble to perform so wonderfully on stage for the first time. The growth and maturity I have seen in these students is amazing!
The ASSE conference was held at the International Convention Centre (ICC)at Darling Harbour on Sunday 11th September. The ensemble was invited to perform at this event and were a real crowd pleaser. Staff and students met at our school at 7am on the Sunday morning (yes you read that correct…. 7am on a Sunday morning) to travel in to the ICC to perform. As the tutor of this ensemble, I was again incredibly proud of watching our students perform without a hitch after a few last minute changes beyond our control. This demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. Well done!
Once again, a very big thank you to Ms Pinder and Mr Roberts for giving up your time to assist with all things dance. The students I really appreciate it and couldn’t do it without you.

The Shining Stars Showcase which has been postponed throughout the year due to COVID restrictions, is planned to go ahead on Friday 11th November (Term 4 Week 5). Stay tuned for details. This will involve selected Dance, Music and Art students showcasing their works which they created during the year throughout various workshops at Campbelltown Arts Centre.
