Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet – LIVE AT GEC

This week our Year Nine students bent ‘patient ears’ to a live performance of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The students were treated to a dynamic performance of the play, which was slightly shortened to one hour. The show was followed by an engaging drama workshop where the company explored alternative interpretations of the play and key characters. We hope this experience inspires a life-long passion for the dramatic arts and live theatre in particular.

Here’s what a few of our students had to say about the experience:

I liked watching the actors change character and how well the actors knew their lines. It was interesting. – Willow 9D

The performance of Romeo and Juliet was intriguing and made the story fun to see it in person. The experience of live Shakespeare helped me to develop an increased appreciation for theatre. – Ava 9G

I thought the play was performed really well. I was impressed with the live show, and seeing how the actors, having to learn the lines for more than one role, was impressive. – Ashleigh 9D

I thought the actors were good at changing their tone, voice and characteristics. – Alex 9D

I enjoyed the fact that the characters changed and how each member played a variety of different roles. – Roy 9D

I liked how only three people managed to perform a whole hour of the play. – Phoenix 9D

I enjoyed the creativity and adaptations they presented in the workshop as well as the fact that only three people performed the whole play. – Luca 9D
