Plannning for 2015
Over the remainder of this term and the first few weeks of Term 4 the process to place students into classes for 2015 will be occurring. Classes are formed according to:
· The number of students at each year level
· The Education Department’s recommended teacher to student ratio as per the funding model.
· Staff knowledge and recommendations about your child’s learning needs.
If parents desire to provide further educational information to support this process please let the school know via a short letter to the Principal or email to
tyson.grinham428@schools.sa.edu.au by Friday 26th September.
NAPLAN
Students in years 3,5 and 7 will be bringing home their NAPLAN results today. The five areas assessed were Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy. These reports are a “snapshot” of how your child performed on a set of unseen tasks, over a period of three days in May this year. Please be aware that generally most children will have progressed with their academic achievements over the last five months since the time of testing and current results may differ to those indicated in their report. Teachers in our school regularly assess student’s learning using a range of assessment tasks that cater for a variety of learning styles. The NAPLAN results add to the wealth of knowledge that we already have about individual children.
Students who have not achieved the National Minimum Standard in any aspect will be provided with appropriate support by the school. You are invited to contact your child’s teacher or the Leadership Team if you require any assistance to interpret the report you have received or have any concerns about your child’s progress that you wish to discuss further. Please contact us on 84435544 to make a suitable appointment time.
Grounds and Buildings
The Grounds and Buildings Committee is very happy to announce that building of the new toilets for Rowell will be beginning next week and should be completed late in term 4. This is very exciting news and will be a huge benefit for our Early Years students.
We are also very close to releasing the plans for the new Early Years Outdoor Learning Space. Please look out in the next newsletter for further details.
