Physical Education Term 3 Overview 

 

PREP:

This term in Physical Education, the preps will be focusing on fundamental movement skills such as underarm throws, running and dodging as well as Australian Rules Kicking. They will also review their catching skills so that they continue to improve. Students will learn to develop stretching exercises and mindfulness through yoga. As always we will continue to work on personal and social skills including participating in pairs and small groups, interacting with each other, following the rules and being inclusive.

 

ONE/TWO:

This term in Physical Education, the Year Ones and Twos students will be focusing on different fundamental movement skills and sequences focusing on two handed strikes like in hockey and Australian Rules Kicking. Students will also develop their stretching, balance and coordination through yoga and gymnastics. They will continue to develop their personal and social skills including participating in pairs and small groups, interacting with each other, following the rules and being inclusive.

 

THREE/FOUR:

This term in Physical Education, the Year Threes and Fours will focus on developing specific skills and movements performed in team-based sports, including Netball, Basketball and AFL. Students will also develop their stretching, balance, coordination and flexibility through yoga and gymnastics. They will also continue to develop their understanding of good sportsmanship including being inclusive of others, fair play, teamwork and resilience.

 

FIVE/SIX:

This term in Physical Education, the Year Five and Sixes will be focusing on

 specialised movement skills found in team-based sports. These include AFL, Soccer, Netball and Basketball. Students will also develop their stretching, balance, coordination and flexibility through yoga and gymnastics. They will also continue to develop their understanding of good sportsmanship including being inclusive of others, fair play, teamwork and resilience.
