New for 2023 students
This year, QUT is launching a new scholarship available to students who identify as female and start their science, mathematics or IT studies in 2023. Students do not need to submit an application for this scholarship. All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates will be considered.
Many courses you apply for through QTAC for study in 2023 are competitive. Consequently, many institutions use specific selection criteria when selecting successful applicants. Once institution admission rules are met (i.e. English Language Proficiency – automatic for most domestic students; age requirements – generally 18 years or completion of Year 12), selection is based on:
Through the QTAC process, eligible applicants (i.e. those who meet the entry requirements) are considered in order of merit (i.e. ATAR or QTAC Selection Rank). The ATAR or Rank of the last person to get into the course before all places are filled becomes the lowest ATAR/Rank to receive an offer (called minimum selection threshold), for that course, in that offer round. In the 2023 QTAC Guide, it is referred to as the Minimum ATAR/selection rank semester 1, 2022. The courses' minimum thresholds can move up or down each year due to annual demand, and the previous year's minimum thresholds are used as a guide only.
Thank you to our Year 10 students and parents for your recent involvement in writing your Senior Education and Training Plan (SETP). Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) suggests that a SETP will help you to:
The QCAA has valuable information for students about to embark on their senior studies.
QUT has recently reviewed aspects of the START QUT program, resulting in some changes to be implemented for 2023. From 2023, the program will be open to Year 12 students in Semester 1 only and Year 11 students in Semester 2 only. Applications for START QUT Semester 1, 2023 will open on 1 September 2022, with a revised list of unit offerings.
