Meet our School Captains

Meet Gracie, one of your School Captains!

Hi everyone!

I’m Gracie, and I’m one of your four school captains for 2022!

I was thrilled to be chosen as one of your school captains for this year. It felt amazing to know I was picked to lead the school by my peers. But it isn’t just fun & games, it includes a lot of extra hard work, but luckily I am not doing this job all by myself. I have 3 other school captains and 20 other captains that help us create such a fun school. And you can’t forget about the staff!

So here I am writing this so you get to know a little more about me!

Enjoy!

How long have you been at CHPS? - I have been a part of CHPS for 6 years (ever since prep!) I will unfortunately be leaving the school this year as I have nearly reached the end of primary school, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be leaving it the way I want. I will make sure I have completed everything that I wouldn’t be able to do in high school and had a fun, fulfilling 7 years!

What is your favourite thing about CHPS? -  I love everything about our school but I can’t help but love PE. PE at our school is amazing. We have the best PE teachers and great sports grounds and equipment. We are also very lucky to have such great once in a lifetime opportunities. I have been lucky enough to be able to have some pretty great excursions. For example years 4s, 5s and 6s got the opportunity to go to Baker boys concert and the year 6 choir got to go to school of rock, a singing show.

That is only some of the many things I love about CHPS!

What do you want to be remembered for when you leave? - I would love to be remembered as the fun and funny school captain, who cared about her peers' thoughts and ideas. I would love to be known as a kind, caring member of the school that said this: “I don’t want people to think I’m perfect or that they have to be either because no one is and if you are ever a captain don’t feel like you have to be perfect, just be the best version of yourself!”

What is your favourite subject and why? -  Personal Inquiry is my favourite subject. It is a mix of writing and inquiry. You get to be very creative and silly. That's why I love it so much. PE is my favourite specialist as you may already know. I love getting to go outside and getting to do sport with my friends.

Where do you see this school going in the next 10 years? - The world's population will properly grow to a greater size meaning that we will need more high schools. I can see our school getting a lot bigger and even growing it into a high school as well! Fun new subjects and cool new facilities! How much fun will that be!

What are your hobbies outside school? - I love to dance, I have done dance ever since I was two years old. It has been something I have done for every year of my life since. I go to five classes a week but last year I went to almost double! I also love to play soccer. I have an awesome team so it’s really fun! We love to play together and obviously WIN!

What makes Clifton Hill Primary school such a great school? - Our community, we have a great connection with the Clifton Hill community. We love to include the community into our school so it has been hard to do that the past two years but now we are going to have a school fair this year, so we can really get back into shape!

I will really miss this school when we leave but I won’t be completely gone. I will still have a little bit of me at the school. Luckily for me my brother Arlo will still be at the school keeping me connected for just a couple of years longer!

If you have any questions, ideas, or just want to chat, you can email me at bir0005@cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au, or you can come and wait outside 6BN at snack or lunch. I’m always up for a conversation! See you ‘round the school!
