Year 4 News

Literacy

During literacy we have been focusing on quotation marks along with prepositional phrases and comprehension. 

We have been using Literacy Planet to assist with these concepts and parts of speech. Children can access Literacy Planet from home too to consolidate these skills. We have been discussing how all punctuation “lives” inside the speech marks and how prepositional phrases add detail and information to sentences. 

Inquiry

This week we have “launched” our Inquiry Exhibition project on the systems of the human body. 

Students will be using the Microsoft Sway platform from Office 365 to present their findings from their research questions. Children worked on formulating open and closed questions today to further inquire into.

Maths

We are currently working on graphing as part of our statistics and probability strand. Students have graphed favourite sports and recently the most popular ways of arriving at school. Parents will note that our maths homework currently supports this area of study. Students have learnt about bar, line and pictographs and how it is a quick way for others to gather information in a visual sense.

Resilience Project

Year 4 have been working their way through the Resilience Project and looking at the catastrophe scale and recently have completed some “Mindfulness Movement”. Check out the photos below:
