Our Excursion

On Tuesday the 2nd of August the year 2 students went on an excursion to Melbourne Museum and IMAX Cinema to tie in with our current unit of inquiry, Sharing the Planet. We arrived at ten o’clock for four fun-filled hours of bug-inspired action. There were four activities that included a 3D movie on the superpowers of minibeasts and an information session on how we classify minibeasts.

The students also got to explore Melbourne Museum’s insect library and learn more about how our earth was formed and view the large mineral and crystal collection. The Melbourne Museum has a terrific Forest Gallery where the students got to see various animals in their native environment.

The weather was brisk but sunny and so we were able to eat our lunch outside and have a bit of a run around in between activities. Special thanks to Siobhan Koopmans, Brook Davies, Coco Moore and Fran Weigall for helping out on the day and making it a very successful and fun excursion.
