School Council

Peter Neaves

President’s report.

School council met on Monday evening 20th of June.

We started with the second half of a tour of the grounds and buildings because there are many exciting changes coming up for the facilities. Most of these changes require money to be spent and therefore School Council approval.  A major focus coming up is the upper quadrangle where students wait for buses. It is to be totally redesigned. Consultation of the school community will occur, and a working group will be formed soon so, if you are interested in getting involved, please contact the College.

Principal Jennifer Roep gave a thorough run down on how the strategic plan is being implemented. Considering there are very difficult circumstances with staff and student absences due to Covid and flu, the plan is coming together amazingly well.  Well done Jen and all the awesome staff who are working really hard to not only keep the school running well through these times, but also improve the way things are done and ultimately the schooling experience of all of our children at the same time.

Communication with families is something that can always be improved,  Assistant Principal Cheryl Evans has been running a survey of families to see what works best for different people. Some preliminary results were presented and other ideas to improve communication were discussed. Please put your thoughts forward to Cheryl if you haven’t already done so.

I would like to thank Aileen Onley our Business Manager for all the work she has done for School Council, she has decided to move on and will leave a large hole to fill. She attended most School Council meetings and fielded questions about the accounts and general school financial matters. She also headed up the environment sub committee which oversees works to buildings and grounds.
