Batesford Enrolments 2023

We are currently working through all the enrolment data for Rollins and Batesford for 2023. We appreciate parents wishing to know about their application for the Batesford Campus and will notify you as soon as our audit has been completed.

Please inform the school ASAP if you will be moving to another area/state in 2023 and therefore, transferring from our school.

Parent Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Rollins is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year, the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15 August and Friday 16 September 2022.

Participants in the survey are randomly generated through a Department site. The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

If you receive notification (and instructions) in the coming fortnight, you are one of the selected participants and we would really appreciate your feedback.

Please feel free to call us if you have any questions or technical issues that might pop up.

Staff PD Day

The New Agreement for staffing in the Department of Education has just been ratified. Part of the agreement provides for a number of professional Learning Days for each staff member. Some of these are listed as a whole staff Professional Day meaning that no students are required at school on that day. On Monday night at School Council we discussed possible dates for the day in Term 3. The nominated day will be Friday 9th September- the day after our concert. This is generally a day where a lot of students are absent as they are tired and tend to sleep in.

Teachers will be at school on this day (tired or not, after the big staff performance act!) and will be involved in mandatory updating of their first aid qualifications and then planning in Units for Term 4.

Uniform

Reminder to parents and students that coats are encouraged outside during winter when the weather is cold. These are in addition to school jumpers for extra warm, not instead of school jumpers.

Parking

A number of parents have received a parking fine in the post for illegal parking in Wolseley Grove and on residential naturestrips. We are fully aware that parking is a real issue aroundour school and it is difficult collecting students after school. We have, and are still trying, to get permission for an internal easement as a drop off and collection point- not a quick process!

We don't want any parent receiving a fine - there is already financial pressure on many parents. The roads are very narrow around the school and I believe the parking restrictions are there to prevent any child from running out from behind a car and being injured.

Icy Poles are back!

We have started selling icy poles again on Tuesdays and Thursdays even though the weather is still up and down!

This is a great fundraiser for our school and, of course, the students love icy poles!

All proceeds will go to the beautification of our grounds. At present we are saving to install synthetic turf under the new shade sails at Rollins and Batesford.
