THE Spirit of the Arts Performing Arts Festival is in full swing, following the Praise and Worship celebration launch at St Mary’s Cathedral on 21 July. St Norbert College was represented by College Arts Captain Bianca Valenti, members of the Arts Student Leadership Team Lachlan Fenwick and Adam Min and Mr Chadwick Beins and Mrs Kathryn Crocker.
Over the first three weeks of the festival, St Norbert College’s vocal students have performed at various venues around Perth and have achieved exceptional reports from the adjudicators. We have also seen performances from our Year 12 Contemporary Bands, Upset Humour and Running on Empty, who rocked out a full house at Corpus Christi College on Wednesday 3 August, and the College Guitar Ensemble which performed a repertoire at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Friday, 29 July. A particular congratulations goes to the College Percussion Ensemble whose performance at Trinity College on Thursday, 2 July earnt them an Excellence Certificate for their piece entitled Khazad-Dum directed Miss Tayla Rattray. Well done to Miss Rattray and all of the students involved.
The festival continues over the next few weeks with solo/duet performances from our guitarists, pianists, drummers and wind players. We will also have our dancers taking the stage at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in Week 5. I would like to wish all students and staff the best of luck with their upcoming performances, and look forward to providing an update on more awards in the next College newsletter in Week 6.
