SNC wins Eagles Schoolboys Cup

Coach's Match Report

The St Norbert Year 8/9 Boys AFL played Belmont Community College in the Grand Final of the Eagles Schoolboy Cup (Perth District) on the first Thursday of Term 3.

After a tight first half, the boys came out and ran over the top of Belmont in the second half to secure a convincing victory. The final score: St Norbert 5 goals,  5 behinds (35) to Belmont 2 goal, 3 behinds (15).

Congratulations must go to all the boys for their commitment and team spirit throughout a season that has seen them battle against the odds against some very formidable opposition. We lost only the one game for the season. These lads are a credit to our fine school with the sportsmanship they display and the humility they show in the way they play.

The team was a fantastic blend of Year 8s and 9s who looked after each other during the tough moments in matches. There was always a ‘blue and yellow soldier’ to help out when things got hard. Full credit must go to the Year 9 boys who battled out a winless season the year before. But that didn’t deter their enthusiasm and combined with some fantastic Year 8 talent, we had the ingredients for a better season in 2022.

Special thanks to Assistant Coach Mr Luke Di Labio for his wonderful support.
