Mental Health Activity Day
August 1st at RSC
One of the main aims for the 2022 SRC executive is how we can help to improve the mental wellbeing of our students. We wanted to help in whatever way we could and hatched a plan for a Mental Health Day for the entire school.
The main focus of this event was to manage stress and build resilience, which was targeted through some stress relieving yoga and boxing sessions, cookie decorating, art projects and many more activities.
We were fortunate enough to have a Mental Health professional come in for the day allowing students to come in for a chat when they needed to. Joining us in the morning we had a special visit from Luke Kennedy who powerfully retold us his story on how he overcame adversity in his own life, and preached to us the importance of being yourself, in spite of the pressures of those around you.
We finished off the day with a colour run joined by St Joseph's Primary School, Rochester which the students loved and was a major hit.
So many young people suffer from poor mental health and to be able to hold this day to show students ways to help themselves and to reach out was incredibly important.
Congratulations to all involved and special thanks to Miss Kellett and her SRC Team.
