A message from our Principal

Dear Parents

Welcome back. We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning at Bathurst Public School. It's been wonderful seeing all of the children's smiling faces this week as they return and talking to the children about their holidays and what they did. The winter festival was a real highlight!

Term 3 is extremely busy.  I ask that you keep an eye on our calendar items listed within our weekly newsletter as well as on our Sentral Parent Portal page. This will ensure that you stay up to date with what is occurring within our school for your children. This week each stage has also sent home a Stage Newsletter so parents obtain specific information about what their child/children is learning in their classrooms this term. Please contact the office at school if you did not receive your Stage Newsletter.

Congratulations to our Touch Football Team, Mrs McPhee and Mrs White on the PSSA Knockout win on Wednesday against Kelso PS. The girls played extremely well and won the game 7-0. Thankyou to Jess Hotham for umpiring the match and to the many parents who attended for their support.

Thank you to the many parents who attended our Term 2 deferred Assembly yesterday. It is so important to all of the staff that the children are acknowledged for their sensational work. Well done to all of our award winners.

We continue to thank Mrs Chaffey and the many volunteers for their work in the school canteen. Our canteen reopens this Friday 22nd July. Orders can be placed online or via the canteen order slot. The Term 3 menu and volunteers roster is included in the Canteen News in this Newsletter or on our school website.

Next Tuesday we will hold our Green Award Morning Team to celebrate our Term 2 winners. Letters have been posted home to our award winners acknowledging their outstanding work in Term 2. Well done everyone. We are extremely proud of you.

In Week 3 (Monday 1st August-Friday 5th August) we celebrate Education Week. This year’s theme is ‘creating futures – education changes lives’ and celebrates the quality education we provide and the opportunities available to everyone at Bathurst Public School. During Education Week we will celebrate the achievements of our school, students and learning community through a variety of activities. Some of these are;

  • Tuesday 2nd August - Open Classrooms from 12.00-1.00
  • Tuesday 2nd August - Free BBQ Sausage Sizzle for children, parents and staff
  • Tuesday 2nd August - Interest Groups 2.00-3.00 (K-2 and 3-6)
  • Wednesday 3rd August - Interest Groups 2.00-3.00 (K-2 and 3-6)
  • Thursday 4th August - PSSA Knockout Netball Regional Semi Final Bathurst PS vs West Wyalong

Kindergarten 2023 - if you have a child commencing kindergarten in 2023, please contact the office to obtain an enrolment form as soon as possible. The Department of Education requires our anticipated enrolment numbers for Kinder in 2023 to be submitted by Wednesday 3rd August. This will also assist our planning for class structures for 2023 which will commence later in term 3.

Term 3 – COVID Measures

Our school will operate with a number of COVID-smart measures that have been developed with NSW Health to minimise transmission and keep our school open. These key measures include:

• strongly encouraging mask-wearing indoors for all students and staff. Support class staff will wear masks indoors.

• rapid antigen testing (RAT) of students and staff who have COVID-19 symptoms or are identified as close contacts.

• strongly recommending staff and students keep up-to-date with their vaccinations.

• maximising natural ventilation.

• encouraging regular hand washing.

• continuing the boosting of enhanced day cleaning at school.

 • assessing risk and applying appropriate safeguards across activities and events.

Close Contacts Attending School

Students and staff who are identified as close contacts and have no symptoms can attend school (excluding support units) if they follow certain guidelines agreed with NSW Health in addition to the NSW Health guidelines:

 • They must notify the school if they are intending to return under this provision.

• They should conduct a daily RAT and return a negative result each morning before attending school for 5 school days.

• Primary close contact school students are recommended to wear a mask indoors (except when eating or exercising).

Rapid Test Distribution Should parents require furthers RATs please contact the Front Office to arrange delivery/pick-up. Our school is expecting a further supply of tests by Week 3. We will provide information on the distribution of these upon their arrival.

If any parent has any concerns regarding school life, please do not hesitate to contact me.
