WA POLICE RECRUIT INFORMATION SESSION

People who have an interest in a career as a Police Officer and are 18 years of age or older are encouraged to attend a Recruit Information Session. Please be advised the Recruit Information Session provides information on the Police Officer role and recruitment process.

 

Recruit Information Sessions include presentations by WA Police Force Recruiting Personnel, Police Recruits and other members of the Western Australia Police Force and provide an overview of the recruitment and selection process, training requirements and job specific information relevant to a career as a police officer.

MATHSCRAFT WORKSHOP FOR YEAR 5-10 STUDENTS

How does a mathematician think about and solve problems? What does doing maths look like?

 

MATRIX invites students in Years 5-10 to join us during National Science Week for a MathsCraft event and experience what makes research mathematicians love maths. 

 

You’ll have the opportunity to work on some really interesting and challenging maths problems.

 

Teachers and parents/caregivers are also invited to join online to audit the session.

STEM SPEED NETWORKING

Saturday 20 August | 10:30am - 4:00pm | State Library of Western Australia

This is a unique opportunity for students to meet with inspiring female role models working in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Designed for students in Years 10-12, you will speak one-on-one with a number of different Women in STEM about their day-to-day work and career pathway. You will have a few minutes to talk to each mentor, learn about their career stories and ask questions, before moving onto the next.

 

Our mentors range from technical experts and managers with decades of experience to early-career professionals and graduates. Mentors speak to students about their career journey and what day-to-day life is like working in their field. Combined, their stories and experiences will help students understand the awesome array of opportunities that await in the world of STEM.

DEFENCE WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES

• ARMY FAMILIARISATION: Wednesday 14 September - Thursday 15 September or Tuesday 1 November - Wednesday 2 November

This two day placement looks at the range of career options available in the Army for both officers and enlisted ranks across full-time and reserve rolls. Students will have the opportunity to experience aspects of being a solider such as infantry, medical, drivers and vehicles, and physical training. Applications for the September dates close on Sunday 31 July and Sunday 18 September for the November dates.

• NAVY FAMILIARISATION: Wednesday 5 October - Friday 7 October 

Over three days, students will have the opportunity to experience the wide range of careers available with the Navy. Students will be welcomed on board HMAS Stirling where they will visit a range of units including The Dive Squad, RAN School of Sea Survivability and Fleet Support Services, as well as touring a platform and participating in leadership development and physical training. Applications close on Sunday 28 August.

• AIR FORCE FAMILIARISATION: Tuesday 15 November

 Visit RAAF Base Pearce for one day and learn about the different platforms and facilities that are used to train pilots as well as the wide range of other careers in the Air Force. 

Applications close on Sunday 25 September.
