Regional Netball

On the 16th of August the Good Shepherd Netball A team went to the Regional Competition after winning the district and division tournaments earlier this year! The girls played Soleway, Karoo, and Kalinda Primary Schools. Most of us had never even heard of these schools, or seen how they play.
First we played Soleway Primary. As soon as we stepped on the court, everyone played their hardest even though we were all very anxious. Alessia and Mya scored 16 goals altogether but Soleway scored 19. It was a really tough game and very challenging mentally. Unfortunately we lost this game by 3 points.
The next game we played was against Karoo Primary, who were not as challenging as we expected. The whistle blew and the game began. Pass after pass, goal after goal, no one was getting ahead. BEEP, the halftime buzzer went off and we switched positions. A minute later we got back on court and we got ahead. Twelve minutes later the tension finally came to an end and we had won. We shook hands and congratulated each other. We were so happy. What a win!
Finally it was time for our last game, which determined whether we would get into the semi-finals or not. We were playing Kalinda Primary. In the first half, we were playing very well and were strong. Unfortunately in the second half Kalinda started to up their game, they pulled through and won. That meant that we lost and wouldn’t be making it through to the semi finals. Even though we were sad we all comforted each other and were proud of our efforts.
In the end the team was upset but proud for making it this far into the competition. We had such an amazing day and couldn’t think of it being any better than it already was. Even just the one win was amazing for the team. Our skills were improved and our sportsmanship was better than ever. This truly was such a great experience. Thank you to all the parents who came to support us on the day.
