Principal's Report

Boambee Public School

Home Reading

Well done to everyone who has started Term 3 strongly with their home reading, I am very pleased to report to you that our work focusing on reading at Boambee Public School is starting to pay off with very strong preliminary results in NAPLAN reading for 2022. With a coordinated effort for improved teaching practice through our Professional Learning Community (PLC), staffing allocations, tutoring, and home reading this improvement is expected, but also worthy of celebration! Well done to everyone in the Boambee Public School Community.

Crossing Supervisor

You will be pleased to see that we have a crossing supervisor now. This will help the flow of traffic during pick and drop off via more organised and efficient road crossings.

Athletics Carnival

Having had both our school and district athletics carnivals in the past 2 weeks it has been a busy time for staff and students. Our student participation, performance and effort was first class as always. It was so entertaining to see our students compete so well and still have fun along the way. Both events ran smoothly thanks to the efforts of our staff and parent volunteers. Special thanks to Mr Doyle, Mr Shipman and Mr Lemaire for their quality organisation. I would also like to make mention of our admin staff, who are doing a wonderful job supporting our teaching staff to deliver quality educational events and provide care for our children.

AFL

The Boambee Public School AFL Team Participated in the Paul Kelly Cup and PSSA Knockout games on Thursday last week. With very few players in the team who actually play AFL, this exceptional group of young athletes have already exceeded all our expectations in this sport.

Our team comprehensively won our first three games for the day against Mary Help of Christians, St Augustines and South West Rocks. We then made it to the Semi Final against Bishop Duitt who fielded a very physically mature team. We lost this game by only 1 goal, and BDC went on the win the competition. This was a fantastic effort.

After playing 3 games in very quick succession our preparation for the PSSA Round 4 knockout game at the end of long and hard day was far from ideal. Regardless, our team pushed on and did their very best, again losing by only one goal against a strong Tacking Point team.

I was so proud of our students for their effort and persistence. It really is a pleasure to see this group of young people represent our school with great sportsmanship and competitive spirit. Sadly, this is the end of the road for this team in 2022 but after proving themselves as the best team in our region in the PSSA knockouts we look forward to having another crack at AFL in 2023.
