Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Friends of St Agatha's Primary School,
This week, we held the Learning Conversations. Thank you to those parents who attended to speak with their child's teacher about the wonderful learning that has been happening at school this year. It was terrific to see so many students come along with their parents to share their learning and be proud of their achievements. For many families, this would be the first experience of face to face learning conversations and we are thankful that we could hold them at the school this year.
The parent teacher partnership is one of the most important factors leading to a child being successful at school. Research clearly demonstrates the significant influence of parents over their children’s engagement with learning, and over their children’s educational achievements.
Parents need to know that they can make a big difference when they:
- hold high expectations for their children, both academically and behaviorally;
- show interest in the things their children are interested in;
- value learning and model the behaviors of successful learners;
- give specific, rather than general, praise; and
- establish routines that promote health, well being and regular study.
I always recommend that parents and teachers keep communication lines open and be ready to express what is going on for the child, whether it is from home or from school.
If you have any concerns about your child's learning or social interactions, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher in the first instance and work together in partnership for the best educational outcomes.
Next week our Foundation students will be celebrating their 100 days at school! I can't wait to join in the fun and look forward to sharing the photos of our gorgeous preps dressing up as their 100 year old selves!
Don't forget if you have a child starting school in 2023 you need to see Natalie at the office to get an enrolment form. Our places are filling quickly!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
