Literacy Learning

In Literacy this week we have been developing our ability to make text connections so that we can create a well-structured plan to produce high quality writing pieces. Making connections in reading allows students to practise their comprehension of the text in addition to activating prior knowledge. This improves their ability to infer while reading. In the planning stage of our writing, students have been encouraged to visualise their character and setting by using the five senses. This, ‘Show Don’t Tell’, approach encourages the reader to make inferences throughout their own writing pieces; improving the quality of their writing as well as engagement in the story.
