Wholesome Habits

The students have continued to further develop their understanding of the different types of carbohydrates, fats, and protein that we find in our everyday meals, along with developing their understanding of hydration.  The students have continued to create a selection of healthy and nutritious meals that should be consumed pre and post-exercise. The children spend two writing sessions a week, publishing/writing their meals using a procedural writing format and then prepare their meals in the kitchen each Friday afternoon.

As part of their wholesome habits unit, over the past two weeks, students have cooked the following meals:

  • Omelette
  • Scrambled Eggs with Vegetables
  • Jacked Sweet Potato
  • Falafel Toastie
  • Pumpkin and Feta Toastie

Team Building in Bendigo

On Wednesday, the 6-8 Partnerships for the Future students took off to Bendigo to participate in some team building exercises at The Zone.

The students were split into two teams where they had to use their problem solving skills to defeat the opposition.  The students had to work together through communication and to use individual strategies to defeat their opponents.

The activity ended with each team taking home the chocolates and sharing in the celebrations.

Whilst in Bendigo, the students visited Bunnings.  During this time, they purchased their individual plants to plant in their garden.

The day was a very successful and engaging experience for the students.
