Dates to Remember:
Wednesday 31st March- ‘Proud to be Me’ in-school visit

Reminders:
Marvellous Me
Students have an upcoming visit from Carp Productions who will perform ‘Marvellous Me’ for the students to enjoy. This is a show specifically designed for students making the transition to school, or to a new year at school. “Marvellous Me!” focuses on friendship, cooperation, tolerance, self-esteem and individuality, in a fun, interactive show. It’s perfect for Term One!
Home Reading Folders
This week, home reading folders were sent home. Students are expected to read to/with an adult at least four times a week and get their diary signed. They should bring their home reading folders to school every Monday and Thursday for book changes.
Please refer to the letter for more details on the home reading process.
Week 10 Specialist Timetable
There will be no Specialist lessons for Prep students in Week 10. Students should wear full school uniform on each day.
Term 2 Dismissal
Prep students will be dismissed at 3:30pm from Term 2 onwards. The start time of 8:45am remains.

Home Reading:
Thank you for supporting our home reading program. It has been wonderful seeing the joy it brings the students and reading your comments in the diaries. Next week (Week 10), we will not be sending books home. As it is our last week of term, we want to ensure that all books are returned to the school library. Please ensure all school books are returned and for this week please have your child read on MyOn or a book from their home library.
Mathseeds:
Thank you for all your support with Mathseeds homework. Please continue to have your child play one lesson each week. If they do a quiz in Mathseeds, they will also need to complete the following lesson.

Easter egg hunt: Next week we will be having an easter egg hunt as part of one of our maths lessons. Please be informed your child will come home with some Easter eggs that you and your family can enjoy!
Library Books to be returned: All library and take home books must be returned by next Monday 29th of March. Students and teachers will be auditing their libraries to ensure all books have been returned. At home reading will be on myON.
Homework:
Last week, we had approximately % of Grade 2s completing homework. Please support your child to complete: 4 x nights of Reading (on myON for last week of term) and 1 lesson on Mathseeds. Diaries and homework is checked each following Monday.

Homework
Last week, we had approximately 45% of Grade 3/4s completing homework. Please support your child to complete: 4 x nights of Spelling, 4 x nights of Reading, 200 points on Mathletics. Homework is checked each Friday.
Devices
Please ensure that your child is bringing a fully charged device each day.
Lateness
Please have your children arrive by 9.00am. Grade 3/4 students take reading comprehension quizzes from 8.45am - 9.00am each morning. These are important for their learning.

Dear SMPS Families,
Mandarin Day is right around the corner. On Friday 14th May, we will celebrate our very first Mandarin Day at SMPS. It will start at 11:45am and finish off with our whole school assembly.
All students from Prep to Grade 6 are encouraged to participate by wearing something RED. There will be lots of fun activities and performances on the day. Please see the 2021 Mandarin Day poster.
