GEKA Murrumbeena

Connection Reduces First Day Nerves

Anju Walia, Early Childhood Educator

I joined the GEKA Murrumbeena team at the beginning of the year. Prior to coming to GEKA Murrumbeena I worked in a long day care kindergarten as an Assistant/Second in Charge.

I felt nervous on my first day but I think its normal to get nervous on your first day at work, in a new environment. Everyone at GEKA Murrumbeena was so welcoming, they all made me feel like I belonged at GEKA. I was feeling fortunate enough, as all of them were so pleased to have me joining the service.

I’ve made a big decision by leaving my previous position. In saying that, Michelle, GEKA Leader and all the GEKA Murrumbeena educators have helped me feel so secure and supported with my new journey. Within the very first few hours, they really helped me settle in quite well. I really would like to say thank you to all of them for being so caring and helpful towards me. I am really pleased to be a part of GEKA.

Everyone wants to find ways to better themselves as we try to strive towards continuous self-development to be able to become a better person and achieve more. Setting goals gives you purpose, and they help to guide your life. It gives you an aim to achieve or reach to your dreams or target goals. My goal is to become a teacher in the future and to achieve this goal, I will start studying a Bachelor Degree.  GEKA are very supportive of professional development and study so am lucky to be a part of a community that helps me to reach my goal.
