SRC, Harmony Day and Coming Soon...
Ink Blowing
Our new SRC was elected earlier this year and we have already held a couple of meetings. Topics on the agenda have ranged from Easter egg guessing competitions to choosing a worthy local cause to donate money to. There is a suggestion box located outside the classrooms that the children can use to suggest ways to improve everyday school life and we discuss all ideas at each meeting. The members were elected by the children and were presented with their badges of office last week. The President for this semester is Issi, Vice President is Sonic, Secretary is Myrtle and Marshall and Zai share the roles of Treasurer and Publicity Officers. Congratulations to all SRC members.
The small but determined Parents and Citizens group at Larnook Public School have been offered the opportunity to provide food and drink at a local community auction. The auction of farm equipment will be held on Thursday, 18th March (Harmony Day is now Friday, March 26) and is expected to attract a crowd of up to two hundred hungry and thirsty people! We are hoping to raise money for the school and would really appreciate donations of time - to work on the BBQ and cake stall, or food such as cakes, scones etc. This is a great opportunity to raise money from outside our own community, so we hope you can support the school with this. Please contact Gaye in the office if you would like to help in any way.
Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. For 2021 the theme is Everyone Belongs. At Larnook PS we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday, March 26th. (Please note the date has changed due to other commitments).
We are asking the children and staff to dress up in clothing that in some way reflects another culture’s traditional or current national dress, if possible. We will also be collecting a gold coin donation for the Student Representative Council (SRC). On the day, we hope to share foods from different countries and celebrate diversity, while learning about other cultures.
