Goodbye & Good luck

It is with great sadness we will be saying farewell to canteen manager, Ros Witham at the end of this week.  Ros has been a very dedicated and long serving Wedderburn College staff member for the past six years.  On behalf of Wedderburn College community we wish Ros all the very best for the future.  Kylie Cunningham will be organising the canteen  for the remainder of the school term.  The canteen will not be operating on Thursdays .

School Representative Leaders Badges Tomorrow

The elected SRC - Student Representative Councilors will receive their badges tomorrow from the Loddon Shire CEO and local councilor Gavan Holt.   This special assembly will be conducted in the Loddon Shire Council Chambers. The students and staff members will walk to the event at the beginning of 1B.  Group photos will be taken at the conclusion of the event.   Unfortunately we don't have the space for parents to be in attendance.

Instrumental Music Returns

At the beginning of next term, Mrs. Jenny Wagstaff will be returning to teach instrumental music at Wedderburn College.  Secondary students will have the opportunity to have a period of music each week.  All students who are interested in learning an instrument will be able to apply to have small group instrumental music lessons weekly as well. An application form will be shared with interested families over the next few days.

Eggnormous Easter Fete Mega Raffle

We are aiming to have an abundance of prizes for our Eggnormous Easter Fete Mega raffle.  If you are able to donate eggs or chocolate, the Parents Association will make up prize lots so everyone has a great chance to win.    The tickets have already been sent home.  Eggs and chocolate donations can be left at the school front office now.  Thanks heaps to those people who have already donated.  As a special incentive Mr Forrest will run a special school day activity for the class who is able to donate the most prizes for the raffle.

School Easter Fete – For the Students

After recent suggestions and with the assistance of the Parents Association we are aiming to have a School Easter Fete at school on Friday 26th of March.  At this stage due to Covid restrictions it will be a mini fete as we are unsure whether or not parents can be in attendance.   The fete will begin at lunchtime with a VCAL catered BBQ followed by activities from each year level. Forms for the BBQ are being sent home today.  Further details to follow shortly as each level is currently organising an activity for the day.   It will be a casual clothes day.

Late last week all year 6 students received a specially designed polo shirt to commemorate their final year of Primary schooling.  Mrs. Steele and Mrs. Postle surprised the students by wearing their new polos before handing the students theirs.  Needless to say the year 6 students were very happy and proud to receive their new shirts. A special thanks to Mandy from RAMJAC and Kylie for being able to organise the shirts so quickly.

Mrs. Postle is assisting in the class for the rest of the term on Mondays and Tuesdays before recommencing maternity leave.

Out & About

I had the pleasure to visit Inglewood Primary School yesterday and was impressed with what the students, staff and community have been doing.  Thanks to Lex and the team for letting me interrupt classes to chat with the students.   I look forward to visiting in the not too distant future.

I also had the opportunity to visit the Year 12 students on camp for a night at Ocean Grove. Mr. Lockhart and I had the opportunity to be judges for the Cabin Master Chef Competition, which was a highlight.  Each cabin had to cook a three course meal for under $10 per person, so using a rough budget of $50 each team did an amazing job.   It was hard to pick a winner as so many delicious courses were served up. Although not to name names, but one boys' cabin managed to serve up some Richmond themed oven baked fish (which was black & yellow), very crunchy but the salad saved the day along with the chunky chips, chunky garlic bread and who could forget the apple pie.  The other teams made some delicious offerings also such as fresh pasta, scrumptious burgers and entrees and the desserts for which you would pay top dollar.  Thanks heaps to all the staff members who organised and attended the camp - Mr G, Mrs. Barker and Mrs. Woodman. Well done to the students for having a great attitude and a great time.
