Hackham East Primary School 2019 Wrap Up

Hackham East Primary School 2019 Wrap Up

It has been another busy and productive term of learning at HEPS!

Sports Day, End of Year Concert and Graduation were a few of the Term 4 highlights, along with ongoing and challenging learning opportunities for our students,  facilitated by our dedicated staff.

Staffing – 2020

This year we are farewelling a number of staff. Ms Jessica Nagel has accepted a teaching position at Seacliff PS, Ms Hannah Lace is moving to Colonel Light Gardens PS and Ms Emma Shillum will also be leaving us to pursue other opportunities.

Ms April Woods is taking a year’s leave to move and work overseas in 2020 and Ms Claire McGarvey is taking a well earned break before welcoming her baby in 2020. She will need her break before the hopefully not sleepless nights! We wish all of these staff the best for 2020!

We had great news last week with the announcement that Cherie Love will be returning as our Pastoral Care Worker for the next 3 years; 2020-2022. Cherie runs many positive programs for our students and supports our staff and community in a range of ways.

Class Placements and Reports

Staff take great consideration in placing students in classes each year and every endeavour is taken to ensure the needs of all children are taken into account in placing them in classes.

All students who are continuing at Hackham East PS participated in Step Up days last Friday and Monday, where they visited their new class and teacher. Letters regarding your child’s class placement and Reports were sent home last Friday.

Canteen 2020

A huge thank you to Coralie Goodman who has continued to keep the canteen going with support from regular volunteers. Unfortunately in Term 1 2020 we are having to move to the canteen only operating 4 days per week in an attempt to reduce costs. The canteen will be open normal hours Tuesday – Friday.

Hackham Has Talent and Guard of Honour – end of Term dismissal

Each year we host Hackham has Talent on the last day of term. This is a showcase of students who choose to perform an act; this year we have singing, dancing and songs and even ‘mystery’ performances by some of our staff!

Please join us in the Penney Space from 11am on Friday 13th December. This is followed at 1.50pm with our wonderful tradition of forming a ‘Guard of Honour’ to farewell our HEPS graduates and staff.

School then concludes at 2pm on the final day of the year.

Thank you for 2019

As the year draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the staff, students and school community for your support in my first year as Principal at HEPS and for the opportunity to lead our wonderful school.

Our school could not function without the amazing efforts of our Governing Council members and numerous volunteers. Thank you to all!

We are farewelling a number of Year 7, and some Year 6 students and wish them the best in their future schooling and hope that they look back on their time at Hackham East with positivity.

We look forward to working alongside you in the New Year but in the meantime wish you a safe, happy and wonderful break with your family and friends.

School resumes on Tuesday 28th January at 8.40am.
