Student Reports

Year 1 Report

In Year One, we have been preparing items to be sold at our St. Francis of Assisi Market on Thursday the 21st of June. The students have been very busy making recycled jewellery out of old magazines and elastic. Through this process they have learnt about design, creativity and evaluating their successes. They have learnt about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling waste and the potential consequences to our environment if we don’t look after it.

The Year One’s have had lots of fun creating their beads out of old magazines and turning them into special pieces of jewellery. They are all looking forward to selling them at the market. We hope you buy some.

Lightning Premierships

Football

On Friday the 15th of June, the Galilee Football Team went to Darling Park Reserve, East Malvern, to compete in the 2018 Football Lightning Premiership.  It was a wet and windy day but the enthusiastic group of Year 5 & 6’s were ready to go. We played five games against some extremely talented teams and although we didn’t always come away with a win, we all had a great time. The last game against St. Joseph’s, Malvern, was extremely enjoyable because we were able to have fun and laugh a lot as we had already played this team in Community Sports. We beat them by 16 goals.

We would like to say a big thank you to Miss. Smith who put in a lot of time to plan this day for us. We really appreciated all the effort you put in and the time you gave up to watch us (even though you were freezing)! We would also like to thank Mr. Coaley for coaching us on the day, Sally Callan for umpiring our games and supporting us and Mr Tobin for ensuring we were part of this competition. Thanks to Miss. Biggs who let us peacefully defrost when we got back to school.

We had a really fun day and wish next year's Football Lightning Premiership team luck with their competition!

Netball

On the Thursday 14th of June, Galilee competed in the annual Netball Lightning Premiership. We had three teams Competing; A grade (all girls), a mixed B grade and a mixed C grade.  All teams played exceptionally well, especially the C Team as they won their Grand Final! Unfortunately, none of the Galilee netball teams made it through to the next stage, but we all had a really good day.

The competition was held at the Dingley Netball Club. We all really enjoyed the day even though it was very cold and windy. We would like to thank Miss. Biggs, Miss. Smith and Jackie Biddick for coaching our teams as well as Mr Tobin for organising it. We had a really fun day and wish next year's Netball Lightning Premiership team luck for their competition!
