Middle School

Middle School Excursion - Canberra.

Middle School Excursion.

This year we had the opportunity to go to Canberra, Australia's Capital. We got to go to many places and do many fun educational activities that focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

We had two clear favourites, Questacon and the Parliament Houses.

At the New Parliament House, we had a guided tour through the polished hallways and at the end of the tour we got to sit in the House of Representatives and the Senate. At the Old Parliament House we learnt how the country used to be run. Plus we got to go to the Electoral Centre where we got to vote for fruits as our Prime Minister as part of learning how to vote in a Democracy.

Questacon was also a fun and educational experience. There were hands on activities like the drop slide, that taught us about the earth's gravity. There was also fun digital games and robots. In one of the rooms there were weather themed games. In another there were electricity games.

The experience was amazing, the learning was on another level.

To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
