Primary Sports Report

A Sporting Year to Remember!

The Primary School sports calendar has yet again been flooded with numerous events, and as per usual continues to play an extremely important role regarding the personal, social and moral development of each of our students likewise emphasising the benefits of physical exercise whilst adhering to the schools core values.

The first event off the blocks was the Primary Swimming Carnival, which produced some stunning individual and team performances, with a number of records broken throughout the day.  Chanter House took a very commanding lead that the three chasing houses, try as they might, simply could not bridge. Chanter took the win along with the first piece of silverware.

After some impressive performances in the school carnival, a very strong team headed to Wagga for the RAS Primary Swimming. The racing was fiercely contested with Moama Anglican Grammar students earning praise from the organising school for both their performances and their outstanding conduct. All our students applauding and congratulating each other and their fellow competitors! Well done Moama Anglican Grammar students, you are a credit to yourselves, your parents and your school.

A special mention must go to Lucy Kennedy, winning four individual events and collecting first place for ten years girls overall age champion. Congratulations Lucy.

Primary Athletics was next up with the weather again making for a fantastic day of competition and fun. Every student from the Primary campus participated in the majority of the events. Martin and Chanter houses exchanged the lead throughout. However, Chanter prevailed and won the day, making it two wins from two! Chanter captains now becoming very accustomed at making victory acceptance speeches!

A strong team will again be heading off to represent the school at RAS in Albury on August the 7th. We wish them all the very best of luck.

The last of the house silverware was closely contested around our very fast cross country courses. Again all students participated and our fabulous parents that helped made for a very memorable afternoon of cross-country running, cheering all our students over the finish line.

The scores were counted and due to the top three houses being very close, a re-count confirmed that it would be Chanter crowned cross-country champions!

A huge congratulations to Chanter House this is the first time that one house has won all three carnivals! The other three house captains congratulated Chanter but have vowed to ensure this is definately not repeated next year!

Elsewhere in sport we have had huge enjoyment and success in local Netball and Soccer tournaments and are looking forward to a busy second half of the year.

As with all sporting events none of the above can happen without Parent and Senior student volunteers who help out on the day. A huge thank you to you all for your help and continued support, it is very much appreciated by the staff and students.

This was typified by the magnificent turn out for the schools Foundation Day. Our Kinder students were very excited to have “grown up students” help them out on the day.
