WELCOME BACK

A warm welcome back to the new year in the Music Department. We are thoroughly looking forward to the fantastic performing opportunities that will present themselves throughout the year.

VCE REHEARSALS

VCE students are reminded that they should be setting up their rehearsal schedule NOW for whole year to ensure success in the final performances.

HOUSE MUSIC FESTIVAL

We are excited about the House Music Festival where the students have the opportunity to showcase their talents as arrangers and performers. This will take place at 7:00pm on Tuesday 21 March in the School Hall. Make sure you mark your calendars for this very exciting event.  Once music captains have been announced at the upcoming General Assembly, rehearsals will begin.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LESSONS FOR YEAR 7

The allocation process for new music students has already started with both the band and string classes. This will continue to take place in the band and string classes over the next few weeks. Students will be advised when to bring their instruments for their ensemble practice.

ENSEMBLE PRACTICE

Rehearsals for out of class ensembles will start progressively over the next few weeks. Students are reminded that they will need to be prompt to all rehearsals.  

INSTRUMENT TAGS

All personally owned instruments brought to school must be clearly identified with the student’s name and a contact number. It is also advisable that something that is a ‘point of difference’ is attached to the case so that students can quickly and easily identify their own instrument.

RECENT PERFORMANCES

Congratulations to a choral ensemble made up of members from the Senior Singers and Choir who performed solo as well as leading hymns at the Bentleigh Uniting Church's Youth Christmas service on Sunday 11 December at the end of 2016. The group also had fun singing Christmas songs with Coatesville Primary School at the service. Each student received a bauble gift from Graeme Seamer, the organizer. Thank you also to Vitor Fanstone (Year 12) who played bass for the singers and also playing with the small church band/orchestra for the event.

UPCOMING PERFORMANCES

On Saturday 18 February 2017 at 4:00pm the Senior Stage Band will be performing at the Big Bands Sunsets Festival in Mordialloc.  For more information www.bigbandsunsets.com.au

All fees will be payable online through Compass.
