Teaching and Learning

The HSC examinations are off to a great start and our students have made positive reports on their experience thus far.

Year 11 Parents will receive an email about the process of making appointments for Parent/Teacher Interviews (Wednesday 31 October from 4:00pm - 6:30pm in the Library). Further information about the evening will be emailed along with students' Year 11 final Reports.

Whilst for the junior years, the road to the HSC can seem too far in the distance when it comes to purposeful study that positive routines and habits are formed early. With final exams commencing in Week 6, now is the time to ensure books are up to date and organised in order to productively revise.

HSC Research Skills Tutorial

All students beginning their HSC year at McCarthy are invited to attend the HSC Research Skills Tutorial to be held on Wednesday 7 November from 3:15pm - 5:00pm in N1.

Assessments in almost all subjects will involve some research before writing an essay, a report or a major research project. How do you find out what resources are available to make this process easier for you - both in our library and beyond?

There will be resources and techniques shown and shared with students as well as some new additions to the College library website.

The aim of the tutorial is to find out how to make more effective use of your time and to help you in terms of knowledge and skills both during the HSC year and beyond if you continue to study at TAFE or university.
