Principal's Report

HSC

The HSC Examinations have begun and we wish all of our 2018 Year 12 students the best as they attempt to apply the ‘polish’ to their dedicated academic endeavours over the past 6 years. Please keep them in your prayers.

Mrs Jeanette Smyth - RIP

We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs Jeanette Smyth, wife of Mr Chris Smyth, Director of the Catholic Schools Office, recently. Please keep Chris, Michael, Sia and Elizabeth in your prayers.

Staffing

We welcome Mr Paul McNeill to the Music faculty. Paul is a past student of McCarthy and has already commented on the quality of the wonderful facilities at the College and how fortunate the current students are to have such opportunities. We also welcome two relief teachers for the term on contracts to cover those staff who are on leave: Mr Daniel Muller - Library (for Mrs Cheryl Gulliford) and Miss Olivia Swift - English (for Mrs Natalie Deacon). Similarly, Ms Eliza Le Brocq joins us for 5 weeks as an Aboriginal Education Worker for Mrs Jolene Faint who is completing her final teaching practicum. Sadly, I need to communicate the resignation of Mrs Jane Ashcroft who is moving to Sydney to be closer to her family and Mrs Natalie Joyce who also heads to Sydney to pursue alternate career pathways. We thank them for their dedicated commitment to the College. Advertisements will be published as soon as possible. I encourage all families to ‘spread the word’ to any friends or relatives who are looking for employment in the education field to apply to join our vibrant community.

School Advisory Council Nominations

I encourage any interested parents who wish to be involved in supporting the governance of the College as an advisory member to attend the School Advisory Council (SAC) Information Evening on Wednesday November 7 in the Meeting Room at 5:30pm. There is currently one parent vacancy due to the resignation of SAC Chairperson Mr Adam Green who steps down after many years of dedicated service. It is a requirement of all members to participate in an information session prior to nominating and potentially being elected to the SAC at the Annual General Meeting. I strongly encourage any interested parents to attend the Information Session.

McCarthy Parent Association

The McCarthy Parent Association has been very active of late and have donated significant amounts of their fundraising dollars to worthwhile projects at the College. We are grateful for the purchase and delivery of 3 new picnic tables to the value of $1200. Similarly, we are in the final stages of installing automatic gates to the front entry of the College towards which the Association donated $10,000. I encourage any parents who wish to be a part of this friendly and active group to join us on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:15pm in the staffroom.
