FMPLLEN VCAL Awards
The night after Valedictory was the FMPLLEN VCAL Awards held at Mornington Racecourse. McClelland had two students win awards on the night. Ashleigh Gyurcsik won the Excellence Award and Mitch Plane won the Endeavour Award. It was a fantastic night with over 20 schools represented and figures from industry, the TAFE sector and university education represented. We are very proud of Ash and Mitch and wish them well next year. Ash has taken up a fantastic traineeship opportunity whilst Mitch will complete Year 12 with us in VCAL next year.
Great work!
Parks and Gardens
The Parks and Gardens class of 2018 will graduate on Thursday November 15th at 12:00pm. This has been the largest group of students completing a Certificate II in Parks and Gardens that we have held. 17 students will graduate in 2018. The main project for this year has been creating a North Terrace outside VCAL for students to complete practical projects or simply soak up the sun.
Congratulations 2018 team!
We are now taking applications for the 2019 team of Parks and Gardens students. We held an Information evening last week but there is still time to fill in an application if you have a keen student. It is a paid apprenticeship (two days a week) so works perfectly with a VCAL certificate at Year 11 or 12. See the VCAL team if interested.
Projects
Senior projects, Intermediate projects, Upcycling projects….
Most of our VCAL projects are drawing to a close this week and we have seen some fantastic work completed. Senior students completed their presentations and portfolios in a formal setting and Year 11 students also completed their Intermediate versions. Year 10 students will present their Up-cycled item this Wednesday. We are very proud of our projects and love when we see students applying their skills.
V-ART Show
Year 10 students Tegan, Sheena and Sonia put on a fantastic Art Show last week in the VCAL Breakout Room. The show compiled artworks from students across the College and displayed sculptures, paintings, drawings and portfolios. The ambience was tranquil and the artwork calming for the students that visited. Thank you for starting a fantastic art legacy for our program!
We look forward to the 2019 show.
Love and Learning,
The VCAL Team
