Photography MAP

The photography MAP entered the ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) photography competition, as part of their community-based project.  This gave the students an opportunity to win $1000 in prize monies. This year’s theme was “this makes me happy” Students came up with a series of three photographs that fit this theme. They have been tasked with the challenge of making sure their images and are not what you would typically think of when given the word ‘happy’.

Student Profile: Izzy Cullen. Year 8 photography M.A.P student, Izzy was inspired by artist Bill Henson for her photographs.  The use of dark shadows have inspired her own works. Her other photograph was based on the youth issue of mental health which she wanted to spread awareness about. Her vinyl works were self-portrait based, which is based on her love of music, playing guitar and her pet rats—Marilyn Manson and Oscar.
