South Melb. Park Primary

2020 Preps

On Thursday the 30th of January, our 2020 Prep students arrived at South Melbourne Park Primary for their very first day of school.

Over the past few weeks, the Preps have been enthusiastically learning all about school life. They have explored every inch of the playground, enthusiastically opened their scrapbooks for the first time and made many new friends.

The students have settled quickly into classroom routines, such as unpacking their bags, changing their home readers and lining up at their classrooms.

The Preps have been learning many new skills during Literacy and Numeracy sessions such as, counting syllables, retelling stories, naming shapes and substituting numbers.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to attend a number of specialist programs including Performing Arts, STEM, Visual Art and PE, which has defiantly been a highlight for most.

Well done, to all the 2020 Preps for such a fantastic start to the school year.

Harmony Day- Parent invitation and request

On Friday the 20th of March, South Melb. Park Primary School will be celebrating ‘Harmony Day’.

What is Harmony Day?

Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.

This special day will commence with a Whole School Assembly from 9am with all the South Melb. Park community invited to attend. We will then participate in rotational activities being led by students from the Multi-age team.

This day will allow us to 'Play as a team' and fits with the student values of 'Be Involved', 'Be Leaders' and 'Be a team.'

What to wear?

Students are encouraged to wear cultural dress or something orange. Orange is the official colour of Harmony Day. Orange represents communication and meaningful conversations between all people.

Get Involved

We would like to extend an invitation to any parents who would like to share a traditional or cultural dance, song, story, or performance with the school community as part of the day.

If you would like to be involved please speak to Paul Dobney in the Multi-age Classroom area in the Discovery Building
