NSW Open Disc Golf

MCS students take on the best at NSW State Championships

During the recent school holidays Molong hosted the NSW Open Disc Golf Titles, the peak event in the state, in what is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Competitors came from all mainland states in Australia, as well as a number of international competitors.

Two of our MCS students took part in the competition against some highly skilled players, with Claire Neville of Year 9 taking out 2nd place in the Female Junior Division. Claire only missed out on 1st place after a sudden-death play-off hole, after she had finished in a tie with Hannah Sims from Queensland after the three rounds of play. Alex Davis of Year 10 also participated in the Adult divisions and finished a very creditable 10th in the Men’s Amateur Division. Both of these students have only been playing for a short amount of time, so did incredibly well against players who have been playing for many years.

Congratulations to Claire and Alex on these great achievements.

For anyone interested in paying Disc Golf there is now a permanent, public course at the Molong Golf course – see Mr Costa for more details.
