Year 12 Final Week of School & Higher School Certificate Examinations

Year 12 were treated to a lovely breakfast in their final week at Molong Central School for  2019. The breakfast has been an ongoing tradition and is hosted by our Year 11 students, who were under the supervision of Mr Thorne. The beautifully decorated table and the teamwork of Year 11, highlighted the bond between the year groups.  It was the perfect start to a day filled with fun, that consisted of Ten Pin Bowling, a hike to the Pinnacle and lunch in Cook Park.

Mrs Quigley and Mr Paterson coordinated and supervised the students on the day and this was a great opportunity for the group to reflect on their time together at school and have some fun  before the Higher School Certificate begins.

Watching Year 12 students at their final school assembly is always a joy and this year was no exception. Parents and other family members attended this momentous occasion in the final week of Term 3 and this was followed by a morning tea.

Year 12 began their Higher School Certificate last week and the exams will continue for the next two weeks. A reminder to all students and parents that should a student not be able to attend an examination, they must contact the school immediately.  There are a series of steps that need to occur, including completion of documentation and supporting evidence.

The next step after the Higher School Certificate is the Year 12 Graduation and I encourage all families to finalise their tickets this week. It is a wonderful occasion for our students and an important milestone in a young person’s life.

Changes to the Enrolment Policy

,As previously mentioned in the newsletter and at P&C meetings the Department of Education has recently changed the enrolment policy. Previously Molong Central School did not have a designated intake area, this is no longer the case and when Molong Central School reaches the enrolment cap or moves close to this cap called the enrolment buffer, we will no longer be able to provide a place for students who reside outside of the intake area unless instructed from the Director Educational Leadership.

Schools that have exceeded their enrolment cap, or have reached their local enrolment buffer level, or have received more non-local enrolment applications than the number of available places outside the buffer, will use the prescribed 100-point residential address check to confirm that the student being presented for enrolment lives within the school’s intake area.

The department’s NSW Public School Finder tool locates a school and displays its designated intake areas. The School Finder will locate schools by name, or from a residential address entered on the website.

If you would like more information about the Enrolment Policy there is a link provided below, or you may prefer to make an appointment to discuss your concerns.
